Carbon Trust launches world’s largest technology trial to create 3D wind maps for offshore wind farms

The Carbon Trust today announces the start of the world’s largest trial of scanning Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology which is taking place in Dublin Bay, Ireland. This is the latest Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) project designed to help reduce the cost of energy from offshore wind.

The Renewables Infrastructure Group Limited (TRIG), raised £300 million in the UK’s biggest initial public offering (IPO) of a clean-power company, to invest in solar and onshore wind projects.The proceeds from the share sale will be used to buy 14 onshore wind farms and 4 solar photovoltaic plants with a combined capacity of 276 megawatts in the U.K., France and Ireland.
